NEW MINISTER OF ENERGY TOURS EGENCO’S SALIMA SOLAR POWER PROJECT

The newly appointed Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Mining, Hon. Jean Mathanga, on Monday, 11th November 2025 visited EGENCO’s Salima Solar power project to appreciate the progress of construction of the 10-megawatt solar power plant.

“I am very pleased with the work being done and I commend EGENCO for keeping the project on schedule.” Said the Mathanga.

During the tour, project engineers briefed the Minister that construction works are 90% complete and that the power plant is expected to be commissioned in December this year.

The Salima Solar Power Project is being implemented in phases and is earmarked to reach a total capacity of 50 megawatts upon completion.
