RESTORATION OF UNIT 6 (16MW) AT NKULA B POWER STATION

Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) wishes to inform all stakeholders and the general public that as of 26 June 2026, Unit 6 (16MW) at Nkula B Power Station has been successfully restored to service.

The unit had been on forced outage since 05 April 2026 to facilitate the replacement of worn-out thrust bearing pads and to undertake corrective maintenance on the turbine assembly.

The restoration of this unit adds 16 megawatts of generation capacity back into the national power grid, significantly contributing to improved system reliability and availability.

EGENCO extends its sincere appreciation to all stakeholders for their continued support and cooperation during the restoration process. The company remains committed to ensuring optimal performance of all generating units, while also pursuing initiatives aimed at increasing overall generation capacity.
