EGENCO POWER PLANTS SET TO UNDERGO REHABILITATION
The Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) is set to rehabilitate its Kapichira 1 and Nkula B power plants in line with the Company’s strategic plan of providing reliable power.
According to Shadreck Chado, Power Station Manager at Kapichira Power Station, the current equipment at Kapichira 1 and Nkula B is obsolete, affecting the efficiency of the machines.
“The rehabilitation will not only modernize the power plants but also ensure more reliability”. Said Chado.
Currently, a feasibility study aimed at producing tender documents for the recruitment of a contractor to rehabilitate the power plants is being undertaken by Fitchner, a German Company, with support from the SWED Fund.
The rehabilitation project is being funded by the African Development Bank.
