PIESA DELEGATES TOUR EGENCO’s SALIMA SOLAR POWER PROJECT

Delegates from the Power Institute of East and Southern Africa (PIESA) toured EGENCO’s Salima Solar Power Project as part of their annual conference held from 22 to 24 February 2026 at the Bingu International Convention Centre in Lilongwe.

EGENCO’s Director of Planning & Development welcomes the PIESA delegates and provides an overview of the solar power project.

Hosted by the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) under the theme Transforming Electricity Energy Systems for a sustainable future with focus on Africa,” the conference brought together utility executives, engineers, technology providers, and industry stakeholders from across East and Southern Africa to explore evolving challenges and opportunities shaping the region’s electricity distribution landscape.

EGENCO was proud to partner with ESCOM in making the conference a success. During the event, the Company showcased its strategic direction and ongoing projects aimed at expanding Malawi’s power generation capacity.

Established in 1998, the Power Institute for East and Southern Africa (PIESA) is a power utility association aimed at enhancing electrification in East and Southern Africa.
