EGENCO EMPOWERS MUBAS STUDENTS
The Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) has donated laptops to female students under its scholarship programme at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS) and has given the university a shot it the arm by donating MK20 million towards its endowment fund for supporting financially challenged students.

Speaking during the donation handover ceremony, EGENCO Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Maxon Chitawo said the Company would like to be part of the solution in addressing challenges faced by university students in Malawi.
“As an organization, we implement a number of initiatives aimed at encouraging the involvement of female students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.” Said Chitawo whilst also emphasizing that every student deserves the support they need to complete their studies and contribute to the development of the nation.
MUBAS’s Vice Chancellor, Associate Professor Nancy Chitera, extended appreciation to EGENCO saying its support will go a long way in empowering and supporting the students.

One of the beneficiary students, Yamikani Ngaiyaye, thanked EGENCO for its generous donation and pledged to make the most of the opportunity.
