PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE IMPRESSED BY 19MW TEDZANI IV

The Parliamentary Committee on Natural Resources and Climate Change says it is impressed with the newly inaugurated 19MW Tedzani IV Power Station. The committee’s Vice Chairperson, Hon. George Katunga Million said this when the Committee   visited Tedzani IV Power Station on Friday, 20th August 2021.

“We have been impressed by the state of the art technology here at Tedzani Power Station – this is a wonderful development for the country.” Said Million.

He however appealed to the company and government for further investments in power generation as the country still falls short of meeting the power demand.

In his remarks, EGENCO’s Chief Executive Officer, William Liabunya, said the company has plans to establish other power stations in order to increase the country’s power generation capacity.

“We are looking at other sites for additional power such as the 300MW Mpatamanga and the expansion of the 4.5MW Wovwe hydro power plant to double its capacity to 9MW. We also have a 50MW Solar Power Plant in Salima which we will be signing its contract at the end of this month (August 2021).” Said Liabunya.

EGENCO inaugurated the 19MW Tedzani IV Power Station on 8th June this year 2021.
