This is a combined 39.9MW hydropower project located at Dwambazi River, on the border between Central and Northern Regions of Malawi. Chimgonda has a cascade of three possible sites: Chimgonda 1, Chimgonda 2 and Chimgonda 3. The following two sites are available for development.
- Chimgonda 1 with a potential of 12.3 MW.
- Chimgonda 2 with a potential of 27.6 MW.
A pre – feasibility study has been completed with a full feasibility study yet to be conducted.
