EGENCO CONDUCTS PPDA TRAINING ON NEW PROCUREMENT ACT
On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) successfully concluded a four-day training workshop on the newly gazetted Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets (PPDA) Act of 2025 which was held from Monday, 12 May 2025 at Mount Soche Hotel in Blantyre.
During the opening session, EGENCO’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Maxon Chitawo, reiterated the company’s commitment to operational excellence and full compliance with the revised procurement legislation.
“We welcome the guidance provided by the new PPDA Act and see it as an opportunity to strengthen our internal systems and promote best practices across all procurement processes,” said Dr. Chitawo.

Apart from providing an update of the key changes in the PPDA Act of 2025, the training also focused on other areas such as procurement planning, contract management, specifying requirements and the whole procurement process.
The training which was facilitated by officials from PPDA was conducted in two phases, first with Executive Management and IPDC members, and then with key users from different departments across EGENCO’s stations.
