Doreen Kavala
Acting Director of Human Resources & Management
Doreen Kavala is a seasoned corporate administrator and organisational development professional with over 20 years of experience in management, corporate administration, and institutional development in Malawi. She holds a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Malawi, the Polytechnic.
She has a proven track record in developing and streamlining administrative policies, procedures, and systems; supervising and mentoring multidisciplinary teams; and driving operational efficiency across EGENCO. Her leadership has been central to the oversight of critical corporate services, including asset and fleet management, land acquisition processes, infrastructure development and renovations, and the management of in-house and contracted services, including security, ensuring the efficient use of company resources.
With a strong background in gender and social inclusion, Doreen has played a key role in integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into human resource strategies and organisational practices at EGENCO.
As Acting Director of Human Resources and Development, Doreen provides strategic leadership in workforce development, policy formulation, and organisational culture. She is committed to building a capable, equitable, and high-performing workforce driven for effective and reliable power generation.
