EGENCO was formed following the unbundling of the Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited on the 1st of January 2017. It started its operations as a separate and independent company on the same date following the appointment of the Board of Directors of EGENCO and an Executive Management Team was put in place to manage the company.
