Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) is a limited liability company incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap. 46:03) of the Laws of Malawi on 7th September 2016. The company was established with the mandate of generating electricity in Malawi.
Applications are therefore invited from suitably qualified Persons of Malawi origin to fill the following vacant position tenable in the company;
CHIEF ENGINEER – WOVWE (GRADE EG 4)
Job Specifications
- Providing leadership in administration and management of power plant in order to achieve efficiency and effective generation of electricity energy and management of staff to ensure optimum performance, availability and reliability
- Providing input into the company’s strategic and business plans and participation in their formulation, consolidation and periodic reviews
- Preparing power station’s capital and operational budgets
- Liaising and coordinating with Planning and Development division regarding short term, medium-term, and long-term power station requirements
- Monitoring and controlling overall cost effectiveness of the power station through budget controls
- Developing manpower requirements and preparing staff development programmes for the station
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, mid-year and annual operational reports for the power station
- Liaising with other divisions and departments as well as Head Office for smooth and efficient running of various functions of the company at the station
- Preparing and reviewing detailed programs for implementation of major capital maintenance works
- Implementing, reviewing and updating maintenance procedures
- Checking on performance data for any deviations and design deficiencies
- Responsible to Director of Operations
METHOD OF APPLICATION
Person Specifications
- A holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in either electrical or mechanical engineering
- Should be registered engineer with the Malawi Board of Engineers and have at least ten years post qualification experience including five years of relevant experience in hydro plant operations and maintenance at Senior Engineer level
- Applicants with experience in the power generation industry will have an added advantage
- Mature with demonstrable ability to work as a team leader, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated and a good team player
- Result oriented with high knowledge in power generation technologies
