KAPICHIRA DREDGER ASSEMBLED

With funding from the US
government energy compact, Millennium Challenge Corporation, EGENCO has now
finally acquired a brand new dredger for Kapichira Power Station. The dredger,
which was procured in US, has since been assembled and launched at the
Kapichira pond. Currently EGENCO is now working on the deposition site where
the dredged material will be dumped. The progress on the deposition site is
equally impressive. It is expected that once the deposition site is ready, dredging
will commence right away. According to recent studies, over 70% of the
Kapichira Pond is silted making it very difficult to keep enough water for
continued generation of electricity.
