Staff and family members of Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) from the Northern and Central regions of Malawi on Saturday, 19th October 2019, enjoyed a family day out at Mzuzu golf club where they took part in various sporting activities including football, netball, volleyball, relay racing and tug war.
Speaking at the function, EGENCO’s Chief Executive Officer, William Liabunya, said the day was organized to bring together members of staff and their families to relax, network and strengthen their bodies through sports activities.
“For a company to progress and be productive, it needs healthy members of staff with strong bodies. We, therefore, planned this day to encourage our members of staff and their families to keep fit and stay healthy.” Said Liabunya.
A relation of one of the staff members, Lydia Mzuza, commended the company for ‘having a thought’ for its people.
“We are glad that even spouses and children had a chance to come and participate together.” Said Mzuza.
The staff members and their families were also drilled on how to stay health and on how deal with stress by EGENCO’s Clinical Officer for Tedzani Power Station, Davis Mulaphi.
Wovwe Power Station emerged to be the overall winner as their teams won most competitions and scooped trophies in football, netball and individual accolades such as man of the match, top goal scorer and best shooter.
