Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO), on Tuesday, 6th October 2020 donated COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) items worth K8.5 million to Chikwawa and Neno District Health Offices to assist the health facilities in the fight against the pandemic.
The donated PPEinclude materials such as disposable aprons, safety shoes and goggles, face shields, pulse oximeter, buckets with taps among others.
EGENCO Chief Executive Officer William Liabunya, said the company has also earmarked one diesel generator that has been rehabilitated for donation to the hospital.
“It is always wise to give back to the community. These are some of the districts we operate in, and the DHOs assisted us when we registered COVID-19 cases. We therefore thought it wise that as they supported us, we should also support them”, said Liabunya.
“We appreciate the role our health system play in the fight against the pandemic. It is good that we as a company supplement government’s efforts to contain the Corona virus through our health sector”, he added.
